Abstract
95 cased of congenital heart diseases were ovserved at the Pediatric Clinic of Severance Hospital, Seoul, Korea during 7 years from May 1956 to April 1963.This resents about 0.54% of thc total in-patients and out-patients of the same period,
Increased incidence of congenital heart diseases was observed in the recent few years but this probably isdue to increased awareness and concern both in the medical personnel and general population. Of the 95 cases, 51(54%) were female and 44(46%)were male, over half of the cascs were under 2 yearsof age at the first etxamination. Dyspnea, fever, ctoughing, cyanosis, diarrhea and vommiting were majorcomplaints at the initial visit.
Tetralogy of Fatlot was the most common lesion, comprising 31.5 % of the total cases, ventricular septaldefect, atrial septal deftet and patent ductus atteriosus were the next common lesions, one case of Lutembachcr syndrome which is known to be extrcmely rare was also observed in the present study .
